The Basware Certipost buyout from BPOST’s perspective

Our previous post dealt with the Certipost acquisition from Basware’s perspective. And Basware and Certipost will without a doubt have aligned their press releases. Nevertheless, it is interesting to see how bpost perceives this acquisition.

It show’s some more insights in how Basware wants to execute their 2015 strategy: interoperability and economies of scale by acquisition.

BPOST’s perspective on the Basware Certipost acquisition

Some details from BPOST’s press release:

  • The acquisition covers the document exchange activities of Certipost and 76 employees working in this part of the business  The other part of the activities relating to document protection, certificates and the electronic identity card business will remain with Bpost.

  • Basware’s strategy is to become the largest business commerce network for both buyers and suppliers and to reach 150 million transactions by the end of 2015. With the acquisition Basware estimates to add approximately 12 million transactions to the Open Network.

  • The deal creates new opportunities for Certipost’s customers and employees (!) The bundling of strengths should enable  customers to reach more trading partners worldwide.

  • The acquisition allows CertipostBasware to increase their technology innovation and develop an offering for small and medium enterprises in Belgium and the Netherlands. Or as BPOST puts it:“Together, we will be able to grow stronger in the Benelux and European market, utilizing the best components of both companies’ high quality products and services. The strategy of Certipost is in line with the Basware strategy focusing on seamless service, customer satisfaction and growth.  Certipost’s deep knowledge on sender and supplier invoicing and in depth EDI knowhow supports Basware offering completely.”

  • Basware confirms that the transfer will not modify the present working conditions of the 76 (!) employees.
