Basware buys Certipost’s Einvoicing network AND activities for EUR 18,2 million

Yep, another big acquisition this year. This time it is Basware that buys parts of Certipost from BPOST for the acquisition price of approximately EUR 18.2 million. In the BENELUX Certipost actually is was one of the leading e-invoicing operators.

To be precise, Basware acquires the network and e-Invoicing business of Certipost. Basware intends to establish a fully owned Basware subsidiary in Belgium.  The acquired assets and liabilities from Certipiost will be transferred to this Basware Belgium entity.

This is Basware’s second acquisition in 2012, after it’s acquisition of the leading e-Invoice German operator First Businesspost.

A bit more on Certipost’s Einvoicing Activities and network

  1. Certipost, based in Aalst Belgium, is part of the BPOST Group.
  2. The company positions itself as a growing specialist in secure electronic document exchange for companies, the government, and consumers.
  3. In 2011, Certipost had more than 85,000 clients using its technology to exchange documents electronically and it reaches over 100,000 companies in Europe through roaming.
  4. Certipost employs currently 84 people, of a whopping 76 whom work in the network and e-Invoicing business.

Comments on the Basware Certipost deal

As soon as we heard the news, we picked up the phone and made some phone calls to verify. And this what we heard sofar from Esa Tihilä, CEO of Basware:

Basware intends to accelerate global growth by growing its Open Network and offering targeted for the small and medium enterprises which is now available for the entire Benelux market.
