Itella implements compliant PEPPOL E-procurement infrastructure

PEPPOL_Logo_Pfad_CMYKPEPPOL (Pan-European Public Procurement Online) plans to have a fully functional eProcurement community by 2015. That’s only three years from now. Itella must have thought that they needed to get things going, because the company has announced several customer implementations. Better yet, they have already been taken into production in Scandinavia. Let’s keep up this pace and PEPPOL still has the chance to meet its deadline.

Cross-border

Itella functions as service provider and access point within the PEPPOL project, a project designed to build and consolidate a common EU e-procurement market. Itella’s PEPPOL compliant end-to-end solutions portfolio is currently the only one within the project to function on a cross-border scale. Jara Annala, Itella’s Vice President, makes clear that his heart is really in it:

  • “When creating a common eProcurement market, the real challenge lies in creating interoperability within networks displaying strong local specific features. Itella Information is dedicated to e-infrastructure development and standardisation in Europe and this is what we are committed to delivering as PEPPOL Project Partner.”
  • “Gaining true business value takes more than just transition to e-invoicing; a shift to a fully-automated purchasing process in the key. A high automation rate is the best indicator of a successful transition, as automation requires the use of fewer resources and generates better control of the supply chain. For PEPPOL community users, automation is not an option, but a requirement.”
