Preventing fraud using e-Invoicing and strict internal controls

Last year Danny Thompson wrote a blog post on how e-Invoicing is uniquely equipped to help companies prevent invoice fraud. A recent news story is a reminder of the need for robust internal processes to mitigate abuse.

Two AP employees at a telecommunications company manipulated the system to issue duplicate payments, defrauding the business of more than $900,000. That’s enough money to make a CFO need CPR, especially given the US-based Association of Certified Fraud Examiners’ estimate that organizations around the world lose 5% of their annual revenue to fraud. The good news is that much of this can be prevented using e-invoicing and strict internal controls.

Basware’s Alusta powers AP automation AND e-invoicing for over 2 million hospital invoices

Basware Alusta will power accounts payable automation and e-invoicing solutions to one of the largest nonprofit hospital systems in North America. Several Basware services will be delivered, such as invoice automation with matching for orders and plans. But also data analytics, mobile technology, a supplier portal, and e-invoicing receiving solutions. The agreed value of this deal is an estimated EUR 1.9 million for the next three years.

JP Morgan shuts down Xign; Tradeshift offers better dynamic discounting alternative

After the JPMorgan Chase decision to shutt down its Xign business unit, Tradeshift has formulated an dynamic discounting alternative. JPMorgan Chase bought Xign in 2007 but was not succesfull to add new customers to Xign’s dynamic discounting service.

Due to the end of Xign, the current customers that rely on Xign will have to find other solutions or shut down their dynamic discounting programs that rely on the Xign application.Thankfully Tradeshift has made this offer and landig page for these former Xign users. Packed with features.

Argentina AFIP Mandates Factura MTX E-Invoicing Effective 1 January 2014

Argentina announced 31 October 2013 that it would no longer support the “factura local” web service and would require companies to instead use the more detailed “factura MTX” web service instead, effective 1 January 2014. The local web service (also known as “sin details” or without line item level details) is a very high level summary of the invoice data containing “header” info only. The MTX web service contains this header level info as well as additional details at the line item level, including quantity, price and total amount for each item.
