Is there any downside in sending PDF invoices? [LinkedIn discussion]

We love Facebook, Google+, Twitter and LinkedIn. Why? Because these social media enable us to be what we want to be: a platform to discuss, share and archive information on e-invoicing and AP automation. We need our members to spread the news, so to say. And they are spreading the news like wildfire.

One of our LinkedIn group members, for example, started a discussion about the downside of sending PDF invoices. Very interesting and highly relevant stuff of course. Up until now 86 comments have been posted. The discussion moved from the downsides of PDF to a comparison between PDF and data invoices. What method of invoicing should get priority and, most importantly, why? We have selected some of the comments for you to make up your own mind. What do you think? PDF or data invoice?
