TIE Holding N.V. (“TIE”) reports that it releases version 4.0 of the Translator, TIE’s any-to-any business document translation tool.
With TIE Translator, businesses can transform their electronic business documents from any format to any other format, thus opening up their ERP and other business software for integration with that of their partners in a controlled manner. As TIE Translator has native support for a variety of EDI standards, as well as XML, ODBC and a series of flat file formats, it plays a pivoting role when it comes to translating from one format to another.
The highly programmable transformation language allows for a wide variety of conversions, opening up virtually every integration path possible. Effectively, TIE Translator unleashes business information from its representation format.
Version 4.0 of TIE Translator opens up even more possibilities, as it is now possible to handle multiple character sets at the same time. By using Unicode throughout the product, and allowing all file formats to be encoded in either Unicode or a selection of standard 8 bit character encodings (ISO 8859), it is now possible to handle documents containing different character sets transparently. This is particularly useful for companies involved in international trade, as they are now enabled to handle e.g. Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Nordic and Greek documents using the same interface.
The new release also includes support for a number of additional UN/EDIFACT character sets (UNOG-UNOL, UNOW and UNOY). TIE plays an active role in the maintenance of the UN/EDIFACT standard directories by enabling the chair of the UN/EDIFACT Technical Assessment Group (ATG1) to process change requests for the UN/EDIFACT directory. One of the recent changes has been the development of a new message, GOVCBR, for use in governmental Cross-Border Single Window environments.
