Basware and Itella invite e-Invoicing operators to join global e-address directory

October 24, 2008  |  Adoption

Based on market demand, Basware and Itella Information have developed an open eGreen Pages directory service to increase e-business benefits for all parties. We invite all operators as founding members to establish a non-profit association for managing and promoting the global address directory.

Basware and Itella Information today announced the launch of a global e-invoicing address directory called eGreen Pages. The address directory facilitates the transfer of business messages between operators and helps their customers activate their own suppliers to use e-invoicing. The eGreen Pages address directory will be run by an open, non-profit e-invoicing operator association. It brings together e-invoicing operators that share a common vision of the marketing strategy for electronic invoicing stimulation and business transaction messaging. Basware and Itella Information invite all e-invoicing operators to join the association to build a global e-invoicing address register.

Basware and Itella Information have been sharing local address directories for several years already and discovered a clear demand for a similar global e-invoicing address directory after interviewing international customers and connected operators. By sharing their customers’ e-invoice addresses, operators have helped companies rapidly turn their invoicing electronic by automatically matching suppliers to buyers. With this solution operators can even better leverage their existing e-invoicing network.

“We both believe that creating an open buyer-supplier register will bring the most benefits to our customers. Our experience has proven that a good register greatly speeds up the supplier activation process for our e-invoicing customers. Based on this, establishing a covering global directory is the logical next step. We encourage all operators to join this common effort,” say Juha Häkämies (Senior Vice President of Basware) and Jari Annala (Deputy Managing Director of Itella Information Oy).

The directory will provide an automated discovery service for finding addresses and a web-based interface that operators’ customers can use for pairing the buyers with suppliers. By using eGreen pages, operators can realize supplier activation more effectively. The new e-invoicing operator association will be governed by the participating operators and will finance its non-profit operations with fees collected from the participating operators.
