Ever-growing numbers of B2C e-billing adoption in Sweden

In 2012, the number of e-invoices (actually e-bills) sent to consumers by internet banks increased by 19 percent compared to the previous year. 42% of the consumers accept e-bills. According to research carried out on members of the Swedish Bankers’ Association who offer e-bills as well as a number of invoice issuers the number of e-invoices sent out last year amounted to 71,8 million, which equates to 20 percent of all internet payments.

“The potential is still great and the goal is that even more invoices will be sent out electronically,” says Johan Schmalholz, e-invoice expert at the Bankers’ Association.

The share of B2C e-invoices increased by 19% 2012. The total number of B2C e-invoices was 71 800 000 in 2012.
