E-invoicing is dead. Long live e-invoicing! And the paper invoice?
Even though the starting points by Taulia+Ricoh and Readsoft+Billentis are completely different, they come to the same conclusion: as a standalone feature, e-invoicing creates less value. The true value of e-invoicing emerges when it is use as an enabler for other value added services: AP automatino, dynamic discounting, supply chain finance and so on.

It is time to accelerate towards full digitisation [Opinion]
With the EU Parliament’s approval of a European standard for e-invoicing in public procurement, we got one step closer to the creation of a true digital single market in Europe. Now, it is time to accelerate the journey towards full digitisation, writes Martin Hurley in his article “Removing barriers to e-invoicing” at EurActiv.
Martin Hurley is the vice president and general manager of outsourcing services at Ricoh Europe, a technology company specialised in office equipment.

IT decision makers and business unit leaders have identified “information mobility” as a need for a productive workforce. In a recent online survey among select industries in the U.S. commissioned by Ricoh, a global technology company, 9 out of 10 respondents said information mobility is not just nice to have, but in fact “necessary” for their employees, and nearly half characterized it as “very necessary.” This also the case at the Miami Marlins that switched over to mobile invoice processing by Ricoh.

Ricoh offers real-time capturing of both paper and digital documents
Ricoh has strengthened its relationship with Kofax by launching a new ‘model office’ solution for local government to enable the instant capture and distribution of critical information upon arrival. The ‘model office’ solution will enable local government organisations to instantly capture incoming communications, whether it be paper or digital format with intelligent routing of documents into both workflows and repositories. Previously, delays in mail room arrivals in the public sector have led to delays in the digitisation and sharing of information, which can hinder public services.

Ricoh Europe first to achieve ISO16759 Certification
Ricoh Europe’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of environmental sustainability in print has resulted in it becoming the first organisation to achieve certification of compliance with the new global ISO 16759 standard for ‘Quantification and communication for calculating the carbon footprint of print media products.’ This certification recognises the accuracy of Ricoh’s innovative carbon calculator which has been available through Ricoh’s Carbon Balanced Printing Programme.
And even though we are all looking for ways to achieve 100% digital invoices, as long as there will be paper invoices, they’d better be as green as possible!

Cut the paper – port users urged to go electronic
In the Port of Rotterdam each month one 20ft container worth of wastepaper is created by unnecessary paperwork. That is why the Rotterdam-based container terminals ECT, APMT and Uniport embarked a scheme to push their customers to use e-commerce interchange, rather than paperwork.
Dutch port community systems provider Portbase, also argues that all stakeholders within port communities benefit from intelligent services for simple and efficient information exchange. Between companies, and between the public and the private sector. Avoiding form entry mistakes, repeated data entry and paper waste.

Flicking the electronic invoice switch. A beautiful metaphor
What a beautifully crafted metaphorical title, Rick Hewitt: “Flicking the electronic invoice switch”. In his article Hewitt of course explains that e-invoicing is big news right now. And that the challenge for the EC is to take a comprehensive approach, ideally with the support of qualified independent experts. Nice!
