The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) recently officially launched an electronic billing and complaints system on its website to ease all domestic, commercial, industrial and bulk consumers. The e-billing system had already been launched on an experimental basis.
KWSB E-billing System to prevent bankruptcy
The E-Billings system was developed in the KWSB more than two years ago and it was decided to launch the system on urgent basis. On experimental basis it was launched on the internet but officially the distribution of KWSB E-billing system could not be started so far.
Approximately more than 2 million consumers are registered with the KWSB but only 35 per cent of the consumers pay bills to the board because defective distribution system of bills as a result of which the utility is facing financial crisis.
E-bills and e-complaints
According to a statement issued by the KWSB, the consumers can now access the website www.kwsb.gos.pk to receive miscellaneous information or get their bills by entering the 11-digit consumer number, which appears at the top left corner of their monthly bills.
Besides getting their bills, the consumers can also register their complaints about water supply and sewerage on the website. The KWSB advised all consumers to send their consumer number along with the reference number of the last paid bill at the time of registration of complaints.
