On January 15, 2015 the obligation for all Spanish public administrations to accept electronic invoices came into effect. After a shaky start, the Spanish Ministry of Finance states that the process of implementation of this plan has been a success. At the moment, suppliers have sent nine million electronic invoices for a superior value of 46,000 billion Euro.
In fact, the Spanish goverment claims that electronic invoicing has sparked “the biggest change since the time of the Romans”in the relationship between suppliers and the public sector. An exaggeration? Arguably this is a process that goes beyond technology and that is “a change in the way a country is managed.”
