EDICOM joins the platform as a key partner in the Cargo XML area. They developed EDICOM Air, their e-Air Waybill platform, which automatically generates the cargo information based on the XML standards set by IATA.

At the initiative of the Minister Olivier Chastel and the Secretary of State Hendrik Bogaert, the Belgian federal authorities this week received their first non-PDF UBL electronic invoice.
The non-PDF UBL e-invoice was sent by Electrabel via “Mercurius”, which is a centralized platform for receiving electronic invoices. Electronic invoices received via this platform are automatically integrated into Fedcom, the accounting system of the Belgian Federal Public Services.
In Belgium there is such a thing as the ESP (E-invoicing Service Providers) Protocol. It is the result of three recently signed protocols to promote the current adoption of 20% to new levels. Similar to France.
In the ESP protocol, the ESPs and the Belgian Business Software Providers (BBSPs) agree to produce a standard for data exchange that will allow them to exchange electronic invoices more smoothly.

There is a very interesting LinkedIN discussion going on regarding interoperability in Europe. What to choose from with platforms in place like OpenPEPPOL, GS1, OpenPEPPOL, SimplerInvoicing, HubAlliance and so on? Or maybe you want to stick with the proprietary platform of the largest e-invoicing service provider(s)? And even though they are all promoting the same cause (interoperability), it sometimes seems as if their different -business- perspectives on interoperability are having an effect on the current interoperability uptake.
