On 1 February, PAE published a report on the first two years of the use of FACe. Over 100,000 firms are now using FACe, the Spanish e-invoicing platform mandated by the country’s central government, according to the eGovernment portal PAE .

FACe began operating in January 2015. In the same year, the use of eInvoicing was made mandatory. Since then, PAE writes, the government has managed to convince most public administrations to use FACe. The centrally managed eInvoicing solution is saving money, PAE concludes.

Currently over 8000 public administrations, including all autonomous communities except Basque Country, are connected to FACe. To date, FACe has handled over 14 million invoices.

Some more statistics:

  • 50% of invoices handled by FACe are for local public administrations.
  • Just 10% of the invoices are for the central government.
  • 85% of invoices managed by FACe are for less than EUR 5,000.
  • The cost of processing a paper invoice is claimed to be about EUR 12, compared with just under EUR 4 for an electronic invoice.
